JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Objectives

The Head of Publication and Editorial oversees the editorial, production, and support functions to ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality research outputs. This role demands strategic leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to foster strong relationships with internal teams and external providers. The successful candidate will drive operational efficiency, uphold quality standards, and enhance HSC’s competitive advantage in the market.

Main responsibilities

1. Ensure First-Class Editorial and Production of Research

• Provide editorial support to research analysts and economists to ensure timely publication and maintain HSC’s competitive advantage.
• Oversee the translation of research articles into Vietnamese for local institutional clients as well as to support HSC’s retail platform.
• Ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of production outputs by adhering to correct spelling conventions, units, dates, fonts, layouts, and other standards.

• Manage the publication process for research outputs, ensuring consistency in spelling conventions, units, dates, fonts, layouts, and overall quality.
• Collaborate with the Head of Research (HOR) to review research publications, ensuring timeliness and alignment with HSC’s standards to maintain a competitive advantage.

2. Manage Support Functions

• Physical and Email Distribution:
+ Ensure effective and uninterrupted distribution of research materials by managing relationships with the distribution provider, Workflow.
+ Oversee client list management on behalf of the Institutional Client and Research divisions, handling errors, omissions, and additions with precision.
• FactSet/Publication Engine:
+ Act as the primary point of contact for ensuring the FactSet publication engine operates effectively and to HSC’s advantage.
+ Maintain a strong relationship with the FactSet provider to support operational efficiency.
• Website Management:
+ Ensure the company website remains up-to-date with the latest research and information.
+ Manage relationships with website providers, including Workflow, and implement requested changes 

3. Strategic Oversight and Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and manage the editorial and production team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for the department to align with HSC’s overall business objectives and enhance operational efficiency.
• Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and performance evaluations for the department, ensuring optimal productivity and morale.
• Act as a key liaison between the department and senior management, providing regular updates on performance, challenges, and opportunities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Educational level

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master’s) preferred.

2. Knowledge & Experiences

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in editorial, production, or publishing, including at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
• Proven expertise in managing editorial and production processes within a fast-paced financial research environment.

3. Technical Skills

• Exceptional command of English and Vietnamese, with advanced editing and translation capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with vendors (e.g., Workflow, FactSet) and overseeing publication engines or website platforms.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality outputs, meeting tight deadlines, and maintaining competitive advantage.
• Proficiency in publication software and tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, or equivalent).
• Experience with content management systems (CMS) and website maintenance platforms.
• Expertise in data formatting and quality control, ensuring consistency in spelling, units, dates, fonts, and layouts.
• Familiarity with email distribution platforms and workflow management systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to publication engines and distribution systems.
