KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Produce commercial and timely research to provide quality, market leading output
• Work with equity analysts to deliver new stock ideas and achieve stock coverage by:
- Initiating on companies as opportunities arise.
- Company visits in support of ideas of existing or new coverage.
- Building forecasts for cashflows, BS and P&L forecasts, three years out.
- Developing robust valuation models.
- Writing corporate notes to provide in depth analysis.
- Writing flashnotes on newsflow, results, company updates etc.
- Coming up with a strong, coherent, commercial, views.
- Pitching ideas directly to clients and sales.
- Provide consistent and ongoing follow-up for stocks already under coverage – this means:
+ Writing regular updates in corporate notes and flashnotes.
+ Ensuring recommendation and target prices remain in range.
+ Ensuring models and data remain up to date
+ Consistent dialogue with management.
+ Keeping up with quarterly results announcements and AGMs
• Provide macro-economic analysis on reported data and for providing forecasts three years out on key economic data.
2. Engage effectively with the client base
• Direct client contact.
• Deal with direct research requests from clients.
• Respond to indirect client requests via sales.
• Undertake company visits with clients.
• Undertake presentations with clients at their offices or through online.
• Make keynote presentations at HSC conferences.
• Act as moderators for corporates at our client conferences.
3. Make productive and commercial relationships with all clients
• Research is responsible for providing updated and commercial research ideas to our sales team of Institutional Client Division to break.
• Collaborate with Corporate Finance Division to:
- Supply with leads.
- Understand the company and provide insights into potential deal structures.
- Provide an independent valuation as appropriate.
- Publish independent research as required, either for existing companies or for an IPO.
- Market any deal alongside sales and corporate finance, as appropriate.
• Provide support to other parts of the business as requested.
• Present at external bodies as requested.
• Meet connected individuals, groups, and interested parties (beyond our normal client base) as requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Educational level
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or Economics or an equivalent related field is required
• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration (MBA) or possession of a CFA charter is strongly preferred.
• Holder of Securities Brokerage Practice Certificate issued by State Securities Commission of Vietnam (or willing to undertake required courses and successfully obtain the relevant licenses as per company requirements).
2. Knowledge & Experiences
• 3-7 years of relevant professional experience in equity research and/or investment analysis, with demonstrated ownership of stock coverage and independent research responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of Vietnam’s equity market structure, indices, liquidity and investor behavior.
• Strong theoretical knowledge and hands on experience in equity valuation (DCF, P/E, P/B, EV/EBITDA, SOTP), with the ability to assess assumptions, sensitivities and risks across market scenarios.
3. Technical skills
• Strong command of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, with the ability to independently select, apply and integrate appropriate approaches based on investment objectives and analytical context.
• Proven ability to link company level analysis with macroeconomic conditions, sector trends and regulatory developments, delivering insightful and actionable investment views for institutional and professional clients.
• Demonstrates specialized skill in valuation analysis, utilizing multiple methods to derive comprehensive insights.
• Able to derive strategic insights from data and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
• Able to develop comprehensive equity research reports and provide strategic recommendations to clients based on analysis.
• Ability to perform complex market analyses and provide strategic recommendations to support trading decisions.
4. Soft skills
• Possesses strong writing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare audience appropriate presentations and support negotiation activities, working effectively with multiple stakeholders, in both English and Vietnamese.
