KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Produce commercial and timely research to provide quality, market leading output under supervision of senior members of the team including
• Work with senior equity analysts and Sector Head to support the development of new stock ideas and achieve stock coverage by:
- Assisting in initiation of companies as opportunities arise.
- Company visits in support of ideas of existing or new coverage.
- Building forecasts for cashflows, BS and P&L forecasts, three years out.
- Developing robust valuation models.
- Writing corporate notes to provide in-depth analysis.
- Writing flashnotes on newsflow, results, company updates etc.
- Provide consistent and ongoing follow-up for stocks already under coverage – this means:
+ Writing regular updates in corporate notes and flashnotes.
+ Ensuring recommendation and target prices remain in range.
+ Ensuring models and data remain up to date
+ Keeping up with quarterly results announcements and AGMs.
2. Engage effectively with the client base under the direction of senior members of the team including
• Dealing with direct research requests from clients
• Responding to indirect client requests via sales.
• Undertake company visits with clients.
• Undertake presentations with clients at their offices or online.
• Make keynote presentations at HSC conferences.
• Act as moderators for corporates at our client conferences.
3. Make productive and commercial relationships with all clients under the direction of senior members of the team including
• Providing updated and commercial research ideas to our sales team of Institutional Client Division to break.
• Collaborate with Corporate Finance Division to:
- Supply with leads.
- Understand the company and provide insights into potential deal structures.
- Provide an independent valuation as appropriate.
- Publish independent research as required, either for existing companies or for an IPO.
- Market any deal alongside sales and corporate finance, as appropriate.
• Work with the retail platform by delivering and translating research in a timely fashion and all reasonable requests are met
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Educational level
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting or economics or business administration
• Preferably with a master’s degree in finance or in Economics or in Business Administration (MBA) or CFA Charter Holders or CPA/ACCA holders.
• Holder of Securities Brokerage Practice Certificate issued by State Securities Commission (or committed to take courses and take/pass licenses as company required).
2. Knowledge & Experiences
• 0-2 years of relevant experience, or fresh graduates with a strong interest in research, or corporate finance.
• Foundational knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods, with the ability to apply them under guidance.
• Basic knowledge of equity market operations, Vietnam’s stock exchanges (HOSE, HNX), key indices, and common valuation methods such as P/E and DCF.
3. Technical skills
• Able to construct simple financial models with guidance.
• Can perform valuations using common techniques and produce standard reports.
• Able to independently conduct equity research including financial analysis and summaries of company data.
• Able to conduct focused research using various resources to inform technical solutions.
• Writing and presenting effectively in English & Vietnamese.
4. Soft skills
